We believe hospitality is more than opening a door — it is opening our hearts, creating belonging, and sharing the love of Christ through everyday life.
Christine came to love God as a child while being raised in a family full of missional love for others. She has a husband, Richard, two adult children (Aaron and Bethany) and a cat named Felix. Christine and Richard felt a strong call to open their home to those in need and welcomed their first guest 4 years ago. Guests have stayed from 4 months to 1.5 years.
They have discovered it is a very intimate way to share the love of Jesus as they interact daily, especially as guests cook their own meals in their shared kitchen. There are numerous opportunities to love, listen, and pray. Their children have been blessed beyond measure as they are discovering on their own the beauty of welcoming, the dignity and value of people, and the abundance of God’s provision. Their minds and hearts are expanded by eating different foods and hearing different life experiences.
What We’re Working Toward
Because hosting guests has been such a wonderful experience, Christine longs to share this joy with others. She aims to raise up more community hosts who will open a room to those in need. She hopes to connect the needs of immigrants, international students, and refugees to Christians eager to share their homes and their hearts, and to provide the structure to do this safely. Christine’s aim is to normalize community living as a way to share the love of God.

A Ministry of Christine Lee
Just One Room is a ministry of Christine Lee, in partnership with SIM Canada. After experiencing the joy of welcoming guests into her own home, Christine now inspires Christians across Canada to open their homes and hearts to immigrants, international students, and refugees through Biblical hospitality.
“SIM provides me with accountability and support. I choose SIM because I love their vision — to bring the good news of Jesus to communities where He is least known, to make disciples, and to see Christ-centered churches among all peoples.”
— Christine Lee
Why “Just One Room?”
Many people believe they cannot make a real difference — they don’t have enough time, enough resources, enough to offer. But hospitality has never asked for enough. It has only ever asked for what we already have.
can be a refuge.
can break isolation.
can restore dignity.
can completely change someone’s future.

Biblical Hospitality
From Abraham’s tent to the early church’s shared tables, Scripture keeps returning to the same quiet invitation: welcome the stranger, love the sojourner, share what you have. Hospitality is not a spiritual gift for a few — it is a rhythm of life for all who follow Jesus.
